IC/BPS Books, Videos, and Podcasts
Long-form resources can make complex topics easier to understand, but publication format does not guarantee accuracy. Use the same source checks you would use for a website.
Recommended starting libraries
Before trusting a resource
- Check the author’s relevant credentials and conflicts of interest.
- Look for citations to guidelines or peer-reviewed research.
- Check publication and update dates.
- Distinguish lived experience from universal treatment claims.
- Be skeptical of a resource that funnels every reader toward one product.
Use media at appointments
Bring the specific claim, timestamp, or passage—not only the title—and ask how it applies to your history. A clinician can help separate plausible ideas from unsafe or unsupported recommendations.
Suggest a resource
Send the title, creator, publication date, and reason it may be useful. Inclusion is editorial and does not imply endorsement.
