Read a study critically
- Was the study randomized, observational, qualitative, or laboratory-based?
- How many people participated, and did they resemble the patients you are interested in?
- What outcome was measured and for how long?
- Was the result clinically meaningful, not only statistically significant?
- Who funded the work, and were harms reported?
Clinical guidelines
Guidelines synthesize evidence and expert judgment but still require individualized decision-making.
